Transition Plan from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008

According to the joint communiqué from IAF (International Accreditation Forum) and ISO (International Organization Standartization) companies that have their quality management systems certificates based on ISO 9001:200 will have one (1) year to make the transition to the new ISO 9001:2008. That is, it should be done throughout 2009.

To avoid additional costs for an extra audit just to verify the quality system conformance to the new standard, the certifying companies are directing their clients to make the necessary adjustments before the scheduled certification maintenance audit planned for 2009.

Moreover, as the audit can find nonconformance, they must be made at least three (3) months before the end of 2009, to enable that any corrective actions are closed before end of 2009.

That is, it is strongly recommended that studies for the transition from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 901:2008 start as soon as possible.
